The P.C.E.A. Membley School came about as an idea that was fronted by the Woman’s Guild leadership that served between the year 2018-2019 under the leadership of Mrs Ruth Gititu –Chairperson, Mrs Anne Maina-Secretary and Mrs Milcah Theuri- Treasurer.
Initially the idea was to establish a Kindergarten at the facility that was meant for the Sunday School classes.
Together with the PCMF leadership led by Elder Daniel Muigai-Chairperson, Samuel Mutu-Secretary and Dr. David Mutonyi-Treasurer, they partnered to kick start the process of establishing a primary school.
As a step of faith, The Woman’s Guild and the PCMF leadership rallied their members and other Christians at the P.C.E.A Membley Church who facilitated the purchase a new 33-seater bus KCW 112 H which was intended for school transport. The bus was commissioned on 22nd September, 2021 by Rev. Muhia Mathigu.
The dream to have P.C.E.A Membley School came to a reality on 15th December, 2019 when it was commissioned by Rev. Paul M. Kariuki.
The P.C.E.A. Membley School opened its doors on 07th January, 2020 with 19 pupils comprising of 7 boys and 12 girls reporting for learning.
The pioneer learners were attended by a staff of 7 that was made up of the school Administrator, 3 teachers and 3 support staff members.
Being a start-up, the school was ready to continue offering quality education as stated in its mission but on Sunday 15th March, 2021; all schools countrywide were indefinitely closed due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On obeying the Presidential decree, P.C.E.A. Membley School closed its operations with a population of 38 pupils, 18 boys and 20 girls.
The COVID-19 break prolonged than expected and during all this period, the school remained shut but it continued to take care of its learners where teachers conducted online classes until the school resumed operations on 04th January, 2021 for Term 2 of the academic year 2020/2021.
During the same term, the school registered growth where the school population steadily increased as a result of what many termed as the answered prayers.
To cater for the increased number of learners, the management recruited additional staff from 7 members to 12 aimed at ensuring that all learners were taken care of. During the same term, the school management recruited the first Head teacher to establish the office of the Head teacher and to ensure that all Ministry of Education Policies are implemented as expected.
At the close of Term 2 on 19th March, 2021 the school population stood at 111 pupils, 52 boys and 59 girls. The increase in school population stretched the bus capacity to hold the increased number of learners forcing the School Board of Management to make a request to the Local Church Committee to facilitate acquisition of a School van.
A 14-Seater capacity van KBN 949 W was bought and donated to school by the L.C.C. under leadership of Elder Joyce Mwaura.
On 28th April, 2021 the van was commissioned by Rev. Harrisson N. Wachira.
During this term, the school held its 1 st Graduation for the Pioneer PP 2 class of 2020/2021 on 15 th July, 2021 graduating 20 pupils to Grade 1. The school closed that term with a population of 128, 58 boys and 70 girls. The great support from our parents continued being felt having that they supplemented the school marketing efforts by referring new parents and guardians to enrol their children with the P.C.E.A Membley School.
The encouraging story of growth continued to the Term 3 of the academic year 2020/2021 which was hugely attributed to great support from the community as well as the school being a Christian based institution.
The steps taken had a positive impact on the school population that has continued to grow making the management to plan ahead in order to provide the right modern infrastructure that with hold the current population that stand at 154, 66 boys and 88 girls. With the support from the Local Church, construction of additional modern classes started soon after the ground breaking ceremony held on 04 th September, 2021 by Rev. Harrison N. Wachira.
The Woman’s Guild under the leadership of Mrs Lydia Kibe- Chairperson, donated additional 2 vans KCJ 641 Y and KCD 248 X to ease the burden of hiring additional transportation vehicles.
The vans were commissioned by Rev. Harrison N. Wachira on 06 th October, 2021. Currently the school has a fleet of 4 vehicles comprising of 1 33-seater bus, 1 14-seater van and 2 11-seater vans. With the school having a population of over 150 pupils, our learners are taken care of by a dedicated staff of 16 comprising of 9 teaching and 7 none-teaching members. God bless P.C.E.A Membley School, God bless P.C.E.A. Membley Church
